Research Question:
How can the setting, location, time, material, etc., affect the classroom and/or course as a discourse community?
Working title for your project
The working title for my project is “….”. I chose this topic because I’m interested in how slight or major changes are able to affect a discourse community and how the community is able to cope with these changes. For example, the occurrence of the course can affect the efficiency of a discourse community, but how is it able to adapt to challenges that it faces.
A summary of your project. Identify your topic and describe what you will be looking at in terms of the topic. Include some key terms and additional questions that will guide your research.
I’m planning to research and write about different courses and their affects they have on a classroom as well as conditions of the environments affects. I’m interested in how different classes might affect discourse community, either negative or positive. I believe some topics may be more strenuous than others and may leave these communities with various negative affects; vice versa, I believe courses that require less work have less of a negative impact or even a positive one. I am also curious to know the impacts the environment/setting of a course has on a discourse community. Overall, I would like to research how classes affect students as a discourse community, negatively or positively, and why or how it’s able to make an impact.
A description of your purpose for working on this project. Why did you choose this topic? What do you hope to learn from this project?
I chose this topic because this is something that affects me personally, and I would like to know why or how this happens. I hope to learn how to adapt to these changes in classes and how the affects actually disturb the discourse community.
A discussion of the key challenges you will face or you imagine you will face. What concerns do you have regarding the research/project?
Finding information on this topic may be challenging, I’ve never personally thought about anything like this so there might be limited material on the subject. I also think gaging the mood of a discourse community may be difficult because they may vary in affects.
